1. Solid Mechanics and Design

Research activities in the Solid Mechanics and Design specialization include design, dynamics, and control of robotic systems (field robots, assistive robots, mobile manipulators, etc.), fracture mechanics, solid mechanics, photoelasticity, contact mechanics of soft and thin structures, and mechanics of biological membranes.

2. Thermo-Fluids

Research in the fluid and thermal specialisation span computational and experimental studies   in fluid flow and heat transfer. These include studies of heat transfer and combustion using interferometry and laser diagnostic techniques, inverse problems and surrogate modelling in  fluid flows and heat transfer, transport in porous media, heat transfer studies in space-simulated environments and development of novel numerical approaches for incompressible and compressible flows.
